A Stranger Smiled

Walked 30 minutes yesterday

Woke up to dark skies solid gray

I’m so not in the mood for rain

I didn’t think I’d sleep for 14 hours

My body gets too easily tired

Too bad umbrellas slow me down

Even the bus delayed me, now

The amp I dreaded on the uptown

Oh, the lights on the train are painful

Glaring at the damp of the rain, oh

But a stranger smiled

And a stranger sang

I am alive

Just have to move again

Fix my broken smile

Sing the clouds away

I am alright

I don’t fall with the rain

I may not go outside that much

The weather’s always in the dumps

I must have some really bad luck

I kinda miss the smell of ocean breezes

The sky is crying so hard like it means it

But a stranger smiled

And a stranger sang

I am alive

Just have to move again

Fix my broken smile

Sing the clouds away

I am alright

I don’t fall with the rain

A stranger smiled

The lights still shine here

New York is wild

Some people still care

To laugh under the rain
