Battle Scars

It’s pitch black, it’s very dark inside

Swirls of agony writhing in my mind

There is something very wrong with me

I can’t escape it, I can’t see

There used to be a candle lighting the road ahead

Now there’s a snake slithering, waiting in its stead

Waiting in the shadows to grab my sanity

There must be something very wrong with me

But every time I fall

I reach out, I stand up again

This will not be the end of it all

Keep running ‘till I fall again

My mind is a ticking bomb

I’m not any closer to where I want

But this war is not yet won

Go fight again

Go fight again

How many times did I rip my heart

I’m not over the hardest part

Am I proud of my battle scars

Not all of them

Not all of them

No, this war is not yet won

I’ll fight again

I’ll fight again

It is grotesque, it is ugly inside

I hide myself, I don’t want to find

The mirror I can’t face for the life of me

I can’t escape it, I just let it be

I have lost the mask I used to show the world

All I have left in me to bring out is the worst

And that mirror that I refuse, I refuse to see

Because there is something very wrong with me

But every time I fall

I reach out, I stand up again

This will not be the end of it all

Keep running ‘till I fall again

My mind is a ticking bomb

I’m not any closer to where I want

But this war is not yet won

Go fight again

Go fight again

How many times did I rip my heart

I’m not over the hardest part

Am I proud of my battle scars

Not all of them

Not all of them

No, this war is not yet won

I’ll fight again

I’ll fight again

It is filthy, it is dirty inside

The thoughts I think are not of the best kind

Thoughts I never want anyone to see

There is something very wrong with me

My mind is a ticking bomb

I’m not any closer to where I want

But this war is not yet won

Go fight again

Go fight again

How many times did I rip my heart

I’m not over the hardest part

Am I proud of my battle scars

Not all of them

Not all of them

How many times did I rip my heart

I’m not over the hardest part

I’ll fight again

I’ll fight again

This war is not yet won

Am I proud of my battle scars

Not all of them

Not all of them
